About Hanson Aggregates Sandusky Quarry

Hanson Aggregates Sandusky Quarry is a high-volume industrial limestone aggregates production enterprise located in Erie County, Ohio. The facility occupies approximately 2,500 acres and has over 50 full-time employees. Though it bears the name “Sandusky Quarry,” the facility is actually located in Castalia, Ohio, approximately 7 miles Southwest of the city of Sandusky. The facility has also been referred to by locals as “Parkertown Quarry” and “Sandusky Crushed Stone” – both names that the site formerly operated under prior to an acquisition by Hanson Aggregates in 2000. Hanson Aggregates is an affiliated company of Lehigh Hanson, Inc.

The Quarry first began producing crushed limestone in 1954. A fine grind plant (Hanson Aggregates Sandusky Fine Grind) was constructed on the site in 1998, enabling the supply of finely ground limestone to major producers of asphalt shingles. In 2011, the primary production facility was upgraded with a new conveyor, which boosted production capability. Today, Hanson Aggregates Sandusky Quarry is capable of loading hundreds of trucks per day with high-quality aggregates, and most trucks are loaded in less than 10 minutes.
