CCA Hot Mix Asphalt

HOT Mix ASPHALT

Hot Mix Asphalt is the core product of asphalt paving. As the name implies, it’s heated to between 300 and 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then mixed with aggregates to create a pliable mixture that can be placed and compacted.

It’s used for most applications, from full-depth roadways in new construction or reconstruction to overlays for surface repairs. Our hot mix asphalt designs can be optimized based on the use, environment, and specific needs of your project. This flexibility, combined with our continual innovation, provides value to our customers.

CCA Warm Mix Asphalt

Warm Mix ASPHALT

Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) is produced at temperatures that are 30° to 100ºF lower than typical HMA. Due to the lower required temperature, there is a significant reduction in fuel consumption when compared to the energy needed to produce traditional HMA. WMA production lowers the viscosity of the asphalt binder, which slows cooling rates and reduces aging. This results in better compaction, the ability to haul the mix for longer distances, and improved pavement durability. Furthermore, emissions are reduced both at the batch plants and around the paving sites due to the lower temperature at which the mixes are produced.

WMA uses recent technological advances that reduce the temperature needed to produce and compact asphalt for use on roadways. It offers the potential to:

  • Reduce construction costs by lowering energy use
  • Improve quality and efficiency of construction
  • Improve environmental stewardship through decreased air emissions
CCA can also incorporate a high percentage of RAP (reclaimed asphalt pavement) in our WMA product, above the 10 to 15 percent typically used in asphalt mixes. Utilizing a high percentage of RAP in our pavement is highly beneficial to our clients seeking green construction practices.

CCA Sealcoating

Sealcoating

CCA is proud to be the sole distributor of GuardTop seal in the San Diego and Imperial County markets. GuardTop seal coating is superior to other sealcoat products in its deep and longer-lasting color, versatility, firmer body and greater durability. CCA provides GuardTop at our plant or bulk loads straight to your jobsite. We are a leader in eco-friendly products. Our warm mix asphalt is used by the City of Chula Vista, National City and the County of San Diego and has proven reliability. CCA optimizes RAP usage and incorporates recycled roofing shingles into mix designs to further our commitment to the environment.

CCA Emulsion

Emulsion

Asphalt emulsion is a combination of three ingredients: asphalt, water and an emulsifying agent. To create asphalt emulsion, asphalt is used in the form of tiny droplets. The emulsifier, which is a surface- active agent, keeps the asphalt droplets in a stable suspension and controls the breaking time resulting in a liquid product.

Uses:

  • Road construction
  • Road maintenance
