Background
Hanson's San Diego operations have been a part of the fabric of the local community since the early 1920s. Over the years, the company has supplied materials for some of the most iconic structures in the County, the Coronado Bridge, Qualcomm Stadium, the Hotel Del Coronado and the San Diego Convention Center to list a few.
The business known today as Hanson Aggregates San Diego, began as two separate family-owned businesses, H.G. Fenton and Nelson Holding Company. In 1998, both companies were acquired by Cornerstone Construction & Materials, a subsidiary of Hanson PLC. In 2007, HeidelbergCement acquired Hanson PLC and integrated its Lehigh Cement Company and Hanson businesses in North America. Today, the combined companies are collectively known as Lehigh Hanson, Inc.
